BOOKS
Sisters in the Air is a double biography about pioneer aviators Louise Thaden and Phoebe Omlie.
Louis set many world aviation records and won major air races, beating her friend, Amelia Earhart. She passed out due to a lack of oxygen while attempting to establish a new altitude record. Fortunately for her, and for history, she regained consciousness and landed safely with a new record.
Phoebe loved adventure and was a fearless stunt woman. She nearly had her head chopped off by a propeller while transferring from one plane to another mid-air. For ages 9 through adult.
